Shelton King Hinnant, 61 of Kenly passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Buckhorn Methodist Church, 8102 NC Hwy 42, Kenly. Interment will follow in Buckhorn Cemetery, Kenly. Rev. Richard Hartman and John Bailey will officiate.
The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon, May 29, 2024, from 1 – 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at Buckhorn Methodist Church, Kenly and other times at the home.
Shelton was a 1981 graduate from North Johnston High School where he played on the baseball team that won the 1981 2-A State Baseball Championship. He loved to sing in the church choir and was an Elvis impersonator.
Shelton is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Belinda Bailey Hinnant of the home; daughters, Taylor Dianne Hinnant of Durham and husband, Dr. Todd Mendenhall, and Sarah Katherine Hinnant of Morrisville; mother, Vonnie Hinnant Bailey; brother, Jerry Hinnant; mother-in-law, Dianne Bailey; sister-in-law, Rachel Coley and husband, Chris; brother-in-law, Rex Bailey, and six loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Otis King Hinnant, and father-in-law, Bobby Bailey.
