Anyone wishing to pray the Rosary for her may gather at 9:10 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Father Dan Willenborg officiating. Mrs. Casey was born on Oct. 26, 1936, in Hillsboro to the late Carl and Marie (Ramsey) Bateman. She married the love of her life, John "Jay" William Casey, Jr. on May 13, 1956, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 2021. Mrs. Casey met her husband shortly before her 16th birthday and they spent many wonderful years together.
A lifelong resident of Hillsboro, Mrs. Casey worked more than 40 years as a legal secretary for Elbert Butler in Hillsboro. She also worked at the Montgomery County National Bank and as a bookkeeper for The Montgomery County News.
In her free time, she was an avid golfer and a member of the Hillsboro Country Club, where she and her husband spent much of their time. She was also an experienced bridge player, loved to cross stitch and was a Kansas City Chiefs fan. Mrs. Casey loved to decorate and work on her home. One of her favorite phrases was, "Jay, I've been thinking," and he always knew she had a project in mind. But her greatest joy in life was being Nene to her six beloved grandchildren.
Mrs. Casey is survived by her three children, Timothy (Dawn) Casey of Ballwin, MO, Lee Ann (Dr. Robert Bristow) Casey-Bristow of Carbondale and Jennifer (Monte Sekel) Casey-Sekel of Beaver Dam, WI; six grandchildren, Shae (Brian) Haber of Ballwin, MO, Tara Beth Casey of Chicago, Aidan (Lo) Villarreal-Black of Janesville, WI, Liam (fiancée Lily Selken) Black of Madison, WI, Ronan Vandermus of DeForest, WI and Quinn Casey-Sekel of Beaver Dam, WI; and two great-grandchildren, Jay Haber and Teddy Haber of Ballwin, MO; her dear cousin, Carol (Dave) Booher of Hillsboro and dear friends, Peg Browne and Patty Ryan, both of Hillsboro.
Memorials may be made to the St. Agnes Catholic Church Building Fund or to Isabel McLaughlin, who is battling childhood cancer. Checks may be made out to Phil or Lindsey McLaughlin, who were longtime neighbors of Mrs. Casey, and she loved watching her grow.
