Sherman Mitchell III

Sherman Mitchell, III of Hartly passed away Monday, November 10, 2025 at Kent General Hospital. He was 77.
Mr. Sherman was born March 20, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Sherman Mitchell, II and Beulah Moore Mitchell. He grew up in Norfolk, VA.
He retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years as an IT Specialist. While in the Air Force he graduated from Old Dominion University majoring in electronics. Mr. Mitchell was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Marydel, MD. He became a Deacon in the Wilmington Diocese and was assigned to Immaculate Conception Church. Mr. Mitchell was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was Delaware State Deputy in 2009. He also enjoyed working on computers.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by; a brother, William and; a sister, Linda.
He is survived by his wife 54 years, Marina Mills Mitchell of Hartly; daughter, Denise Ashbourne of England; brother, Samuel Mitchell; sister, Shelia Mitchell and special niece Lynda Mitchell all of Norfolk, VA; granddaughters, Wendy, Khanly, and Angelina.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11AM, Monday, November 24, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 522 Main Street, Marydel, MD 21649. A visitation will be one hour prior. Interment with honors will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Columbian Home Association, Knights of Columbus, 219 Vepco Blvd, Camden, DE 19934 or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Marydel, MD.
