Sherman E. Russell, Jr., 84, of Boonville, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2025.

Junior, as he was known to family and friends, was born on July 7, 1941 to the late Sherman, Sr. and Catherine Russell. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he proudly served in a Ranger battalion. Junior married the love of his life, Gilda (Pursley), on September 22, 1963 and they spent 43 years together raising their 6 sons before saying their last "I love you". Junior was a union carpenter by trade and after retirement enjoyed visiting with his multiple grandchildren, riding the bus, catching up on local news, and stopping by his favorite restaurants for a good ole cup of coffee.

Surviving Junior are his sons, Michael (Yvonne) Russell, Steven Russell, William (Linda) Russell, Samuel Russell, Shawn (Danielle) Russell, and Glynn Russell; sister, Martha Dewitt; 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Awaiting him in heaven are his loving wife, Gilda, grandson, Matthew, and great grandson, Dalton.

Visitation will be held at Bradley's Colonial Chapel 1005 E. Main Street Boonville, IN 47601 on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 10AM to noon, with services starting immediately after.
