Sherman Leo St. Clair

Sherman Leo St. Clair, 91, of Shippensburg, PA, passed away December 19, 2025. He was born May 8, 1934, in Metal Township, PA, the son of John and Hulda (Keebaugh) St. Clair.

Sherman served in the U.S. Army as a tank driver in Korea and was active in the U.S. Army Reserves. He held several jobs early in his career including working on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and training in Missouri in air traffic control, before settling on work as a professional truck driver. He was a long-time active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Chambersburg, PA.

Sherman enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends, collecting records and coins, and playing cards. His daughters report he was a professional "piddler" who loved to tinker with everything from home repairs, to work with traveling carnivals and the U.S. Census. He loved to make up words when playing Scrabble, would travel for miles to save a nickel on a gallon of gas, and in recent years had to admit to his daughters that his slip-on Sketchers really were the best thing ever!

Sherman is survived by daughters Michelle Calvert, of Lebanon, PA and Tylette Fahrney, of Clear Spring, MD, grandchildren Devon Calvert, Madison Calvert, Chance Fahrney and Jaxson Fahrney. He is also survived by brothers Harold St. Clair and Owen St. Clair, as well as long-time companion Maxine Morris.

In addition to his parents, Sherman was preceded in death by wife Virginia (Broggi) St. Clair and brothers James, Charles, J. Wayne and Robert.

A viewing will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., 725 Norland Ave, Chambersburg. A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Norland Cemetery, with Pastor Johnathon Laye officiating.
