Sherri Susan Cecil, 70, of Hawesville, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville. She was born on July 14, 1955, in Long Beach, California to the late Ross Mester, Jr. and Georgina McLain.

Sherri was a Vietnam veteran, serving as a nurse in the U.S. Army. She met her husband Anthony while both served in Vietnam. They were married for 45 years before Anthony preceded her in death in 2024.

As a lover of the church, Sherri attended many different churches. She most often attended the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and the Hawesville Church of Christ. She loved music, especially Elvis Presley. Her hobbies included reading, puzzles, and cooking shows. Sherri was particular about her nails, getting them done every two weeks. She was known to rarely drive by Rolling Pin donuts without stopping. Sherri was also well known to all the Amazon delivery drivers as she loved to shop online.

Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Mester, and a sister, Debra Mester-Olson.

Sherri is survived by her daughters, Kelli Cecil of Hawesville, and Brandi Cecil-Millay of Owensboro; a son, Robert Cecil of Philpot; sisters, Lori Stimpfle of Oregon, Tami Smith of Texas, and Jan Flaherty of California; Grandchildren, Brian Cecil, Gage Millay, Kaitlyn Jones, Chloe Duckworth, Tesla Brown, Jovi Brown, and Valerie Walters.

The arrangements for Mrs. Cecil will be private.
