Mary Wavalene Cecil

Mary Wavalene Cecil, 94, of McArthur, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. She was born November 17, 1931, in Vinton County, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles and Hazel Barnett Sowers. Mary was married for 62 years to the late Earl L. Cecil Sr.

She is survived by her son, Earl L. Cecil Jr. of McArthur; daughter, Pam (Brian) McKinniss of Wellston; grandchildren, Keith (Lisa) McKinniss, Stacy Collins, Julie (Scott) Bowser and Ashley (Rich) South; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and sisters, Shelby Thacker of Hamden, Maxine Haddox of Circleville and Mary Sowers.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by an infant son, William Bruce Cecil; grandson, Chad McKinniss and sister, Darlene Seitz.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, February 27, 2026, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. James Griffith. officiating. Interment will be in Bell Cemetery, Vinton County. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
