Ruby Louise Whitley, 85, of Hamden, passed away quietly in her sleep on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Mt Carmel East Hospital, Columbus. Ruby was born on August 18, 1940, in Granger, Texas, the daughter of the late Fred B. and Ruby D. (Orr) Whitley.
Ruby is survived by her three children, Cynthia A. Haydon of Austin, Texas, Janice “Elaine” (Arthur) Delgado of Nolanville, Texas, and Charles Marshall of Temple, Texas; grandchildren, Robin Turner of Oregon, David Roland of Hamden, and Reubin Zellner of Hamden; great grandchildren, Keiko, Scarlett, and John Turner; sisters, Francis Ware, Dorothy Basey, and Allie Mae Stoddard; brothers, Marshall Lee “Sonny” Whitley, Fred Whitley Jr., and Harrell Whitley; and many nieces and nephews.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ruby; and brother, Roy Anthony Whitley.
Family will host a celebration of Ruby’s life over Zoom, to be announced at a later date. Arrangements are with the Garrett Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St, McArthur.
