Sherrie Ann Barnes, 63, of
Chattanooga, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, surrounded by love and leaving behind a family forever changed by her absence.
Sherrie was a beautiful soul with a heart bigger than words. She was kind, compassionate, and full of love, always putting others before herself. She was an inspiration to her community and an amazing teacher who touched countless lives, often without even realizing the impact she had. If you knew Sherrie, you knew warmth, laughter, and unconditional care.
She found joy in life's simple moments, especially those spent with the people she loved. She cherished playing pool with her husband, proudly winning a city championship. She was also greatly passionate about going to wrestling every week. Sherrie was an avid bowler and a proud member of the 600 Club in Chattanooga. No matter the activity, she brought passion, dedication, and joy into everything she did.
Above all else, Sherrie lived for her family. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, and wife who held her family together with love and strength. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and acceptance - a safe haven where everyone felt welcome. She had a rare gift for making people feel at home, cared for, and deeply loved.
Sherrie was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Caroline Smith; her father, Lester Ray Smith; her beloved husband, Terry Allen Barnes Sr.; her brother Eric Thompson; and her precious great-granddaughter, Cecelia Butler.
She leaves behind her loving sons, Terry (Christina) Barnes, Jeffery (Jessica) Donelson, Cody (Melinda) Barnes, and James Donelson; her sister, Charlene Craig; and her cherished grandchildren: Christopher, Sabrina, Kyle, Wyatt, Cheyenne, Chloe, Noah, Layla, Bella, McKayla, Jazmine, Terry, Hunter, Rhegan, Serinity, and Jinx. She is also survived by her treasured great-grandchildren, Nova and Lily, who brought her so much joy.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing Sherrie's love lives on through her family and all those she touched. She will be deeply missed every single day, but her kindness, strength and unconditional love will remain with us forever.
The Celebration of Life for Sherrie will be held Friday, January 2, 2025 at Lane Funeral Home Chapel at 4:00PM. Family will receive friends from 3:00PM to 4:00PM.
