Sherrie Lynn Bates, cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on December 21, 2025, in Richmond, Kansas. She was born on January 20, 1958, in Fort Scott, Kansas to parents Clyde and Olla Belle (Noggle) Bartholomew. Sherrie's journey through life was marked by her resilience, love for family, and a spirit that embraced the beauty of each moment.

After graduating from high school, Sherrie pursued two years of college, which laid the groundwork for her lifelong commitment to learning and personal growth. Over the years, she made her home in several towns across Kansas, including Bronson, Iola, Kansas City, and Wichita, reflecting her open heart and willingness to embrace new surroundings.

On September 29, 1974, she united in marriage with Leslie Lyle Morgan Jr., with whom she shared over twenty years. She later married Jerry D. Ganzer on June 9, 2001, in Wichita, Kansas, though he passed away just five years later, in June 2006. Sherrie's final years were spent with her significant other, Dean R. Bates, who predeceased her on April 22, 2020.

Sherrie's dedication to her family was profound. She is survived by her daughter, Christine Morgan of Princeton, Kansas; her son, Brian Morgan of Richmond, Kansas; and five grandchildren: Cody Surber of Ottawa, Kansas; Jordan Yohe (Cade) of Waverly, Kansas; Katelynn Morgan of Moran, Kansas; Christopher Burris of Waverly, Kansas; and Brian W. Morgan of Richmond, Kansas. Sherrie also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Caroline Yohe of Waverly, Kansas, and Chandler Laymon of Moran, Kansas.

Her parents have preceded her in death, leaving a legacy of love and guidance that Sherrie carried throughout her life.

A visitation will take place on January 3, 2026, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM at Dengel & Son Mortuary, located at 235 S Hickory St, Ottawa, Kansas, 66067.
