Sherrie Simpson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ruffenach Family Funeral Homes - Philadelphia on Jan. 10, 2026.
On Wednesday, December 31, 2025, Sherrie Lynn Addicks Simpson passed away at the age of
67. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.
Born in Parkville, Maryland, Sherrie was a 1976 graduate of Parkville High School. She built a
long and fulfilling career in the paint and wallcovering industry, beginning with Glidden and later
spending more than three decades with several companies, most prominently MAB Paints.
There, she was a respected leader, known for her steady presence and commitment to the
people she worked with, and for the lasting friendships and sense of community she built with
contractors and painters across suburban Philadelphia.
In her later years, Sherrie remained deeply engaged in her community through especially
meaningful and social roles at Wegmans Food Market and Avon Grove High School, where she
was known for striking up conversations and building friendships wherever she went. Her love
for animals was just as defining. An animal lover from her earliest days, Sherrie dedicated
countless hours to volunteering and charitable work with organizations such as Animal Rescue
Foundation (ARF) and Peace, Love & Doggie Paws (PLDP), advocating tirelessly for animals in
need.
Those who knew Sherrie knew she spoke her mind and wore her heart on her sleeve, a
combination that brought both laughter and candor to those around her. In her free time, Sherrie
loved to cook. Her family will spend their remaining years trying to perfect her famous crab
soup-and will undoubtedly fail. While she was often an open book, she did take a few closely
guarded secrets with her. Still, they will carry on her beloved July birthday tradition-steaming
bushels of crabs, cracking a few beers, and celebrating her the Baltimore way.
Sherrie and her devoted husband, Gary, shared nearly 25 years of marriage and a deep love of
travel, especially their time together in the Outer Banks, where they delighted in the sea, the
sand, and shared adventures.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen; her father, George; and her brother, Jerry.
She is survived by her husband, Gary; her son, Justin and his wife, Chrissy; her sister, Suzette;
her brother, Wayne and his wife, Donna; her adored grandchildren, Benno, Matteo, and Enzo;
and her beloved nephew and nieces, James, Rachel, and Val.
A private celebration of Sherrie's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in
her memory may be made to Lucky Dawg Animal Rescue, reflecting her lifelong love for
animals.
