With heavy hearts, we share the news of the passing of Sherrill Renee Turner Hillhouse. She passed away in her home in Gladewater, Texas on September 25th, 2025 after a long, courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving children.
Born on March 24th, 1956 in Gladewater, Texas, to her parents, Billy Joe and Joyce Ann Turner, Sherrill was a blooming daffodil in the lives of the people she knew. She worked at many locations across East Texas as a cashier and store manager, and she had a bright, dimpled smile for everyone. Even at the toughest times and throughout her struggles with cancer, Sherrill had her bright smile. She was always more concerned about the burden she may have placed upon others than her own struggles. Sherrill was a loving mother and the beloved Nanny to her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children—daughters Amanda Joyce Bynum and husband Jack, Amber Denise Vance and husband Brian, Angel Dawn Hillhouse, and son Billy Wayne Hillhouse and his partner Catherine Williams, as well as step-children Millie Ellerbe, Pamela Hillhouse, Belinda Trombatore, and Shiela Harper. She is also survived by her grandchildren Raiden Tyler Bynum, Blake B. Bynum, Xavier Jamari Gillaspie, Breanne Gail Humphrey, Braxtyn Don Vance, James Raymond Glass, Nicholas Ford Glass, and Liam Dale Glass. She was also a loving step-grandmother to numerous other beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves behind her brother Dennis Turner and his wife Kathy, her sisters Angela Newman, and Darlene Taylor and fiancé Frank Simons, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sherrill is preceded in death by her parents Billy Joe and Joyce Ann Turner, her husband Billy Hillhouse, sister LaCrecia Sweeney, and all of her grandparents.
