It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sherry Griffin Alvarez, a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, who left this world on October 3, 2025, in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Born on September 30, 1966, in Newton, Mississippi, Sherry filled every moment of her life with love and joy, particularly in the company of her family, whom she cherished above all else.
Sherry attended Newton City School and lived in Vancleve, MS for the last 20 years. She was a woman of many talents and passions. She found immense joy in painting, crafting beautiful items, and nurturing her stunning flowers, each bloom a testament to her vibrant spirit. Whether embarking on adventures with her loved ones or simply enjoying quiet moments at home, her heart was always centered on family. She was lovingly known as the best Mother and Nana in the world, titles she wore with pride. She doted on her grandchildren: Robert Myers Jr., Jaxon Myers, Ava Myers, and Haloe Myers.
The legacy that Sherry leaves behind is one of unconditional love and support. She is survived by her son, Robert Myers and his wife Candace, who reveled in her guidance and warmth. Sherry was also a treasured daughter of William and Helen Porter Griffin, and a devoted sister to Sammy Griffin (Sherelle). Her memory will forever echo in the hearts of her nephews, Tristan King and Seth Griffin, and her nieces Brianna, Sadie, Hope, Faith, and Chyann, as well as her great niece Kinsley King.
Sherry was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Samantha Sandoval, who she cherished deeply, and her sister, Tammy Griffin. The bond they shared will continue to resonate within the family as they remember the love and laughter they brought to one another's lives.
Friends and family are invited to gather for a visitation on October 7, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, Mississippi. We encourage all who knew Sherry to come forward and share in the remembrance of her life—a life marked by wholeness, faith, and a profound love for those around her.
In our hearts, Sherry will forever be a shining example of love, creativity, and devotion—a reminder of what it means to truly live for one's family. May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory serve as an everlasting source of joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
