Sherry Brown Obituary

Sherry Brown, of Wynona, was called out of suffering and into glory, where faith became sight and hope became home, on September 30, 2025. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Sherry was born on September 17, 1958, in Exeter, CA, the daughter of the late Clifford and Emma Jean (McGill) Stroud. When she was young, her family moved to Pawhuska, where she grew up and spent most of her life.
It was in Pawhuska that Sherry met the love of her life, Stanley Brown, while still in school. Their friendship grew into a deep love, and on October 17, 1975, they married - beginning a lifelong partnership marked by devotion, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. Sherry and Stanley built their home together in Wynona, and their love became the foundation for a family that would bring them their greatest joy.
Together they raised two children, Don and Deborah, whom Sherry cherished deeply. She poured her heart into motherhood, creating a home that was warm, welcoming, and full of love. That love only grew as she became a grandmother to Rosemary Brown, Katherine Wikel, Donny Brown, Dustyn Brown, and Kooper Wikel - each of them a treasured blessing in her eyes.
Sherry was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Stroud, and her sister, Rose McBurl, both of whom she missed dearly throughout her life. She is survived by her beloved husband, Stanley; her children, Don and wife Carrie Brown, and Deborah and husband Rex Wikel; her mother, Emma Jean Stroud; her brother, Gregory (Kathy) Stroud; her sister, Patricia "Lynn" Pearson; her five grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends who will carry her memory in their hearts always.
To those who knew her, Sherry will be remembered as a woman of quiet strength, unwavering faith, and endless love for her family. She was a steady presence, always giving more of herself than she asked in return. She found joy in the simple things - time with her loved ones, the joy and laughter of family gatherings, and watching her children and grandchildren grow. Her love was felt not just in words but in her actions, in the way she cared for those around her, and in the memories she leaves behind.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Pawhuska Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow at A.J. Powell Cemetery, Hominy, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Kendrick McCartney Johnson Funeral Home.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Cornerstone Hospice and palliative care team for the compassion and care shown to Sherry in her final days.
"So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again; then you will rejoice, and no one can rob you of that joy." - John 16:22
