She is survived by her loving parents, Freddy and Shirley Marcum Bush; her devoted husband, Johnathan Whitaker, all of Elk Creek; and her cherished son, Brasen Keith Whitaker of Richmond, KY. Sherry was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Alfred and Grace Marcum, and her paternal grandparents, Jim and Jane Bush.
Sherry dedicated 23 years to the Clay County Board of Education, teaching at Oneida Elementary and Manchester Elementary. Her passion for education and commitment to her students made a lasting impact on countless children and families. She was a proud graduate of Alice Lloyd College.
Sherry will be remembered for her gentle spirit, tireless dedication to her work, and unwavering love for her family and community. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Britton Funeral Home, with Bobby Stevens, Jerry McKinley Holland, and Jason Root officiating. Burial will follow at Bush Cemetery in Elk Creek, KY. Visitation will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, November 14, 2025, also at Britton Funeral Home.
