Mrs. Sherry Carter, age 63, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024. Mrs. Carter was born in Savannah to the late Sherrod Smith and Mary Willis Smith on December 20, 1960. She worked for many years as a book keeper and enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, watching birds and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherrod Smith and Mary Willis Smith.
Survivors include her four children, Valerie Wilson of Milledgeville, James Dempsey of Jesup, Sherrod “Skeebo” Carter and his wife Tiffany of Pembroke and David Allen Carter, Jr. and his wife Mallory of Wilmington Island; husband, David Allen Carter, Sr. of Wilmington Island; two sisters, Susan Crowe and her husband Tim of Eatonton and Sara Plaspohl and her husband David of Savannah; 8 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.
