Sherrill Diane Pearson Edwards, 79, of Arcadia, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024. Born May 13, 1945, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Sherry lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and a genuine love for others.
Sherry’s early career began as a beautician at Rose’s Beauty Salon. Her journey continued as the first Director of the First Baptist Church Arcadia Day Care, where she made a significant impact on the lives of many children and their families. Her career path took her to Commercial Union in Ruston, and eventually, to the District Attorney’s Office in Arcadia. It was there that she discovered her passion for the legal system, which fueled her desire to become a paralegal.
In 1980, Sherry embarked on a 30-year career with State Farm Insurance, starting with Tommy Chester in Arcadia and later working with Gregg Phillips in Ruston. Her work was not just a job but a fulfilling part of her life, reflecting her commitment and drive.
Sherry is survived by her devoted husband, George Edwards; her loving daughters, Kristen Weeks and Jenifer Nixon and husband Tony; her loved grandchildren, Taylor Weeks and Sam Weeks; and her brothers, Rocky Pearson and Mike Pearson along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Bess Pearson; her sister, Gail Keller; and her brothers, Pat Pearson and Danny Pearson.
A celebration of Sherry’s life will be held on Saturday, August 10th, at the First Baptist Church of Arcadia, with Jeff Hoffman officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.
Sherry’s legacy of kindness, enthusiasm, and unyielding spirit will be cherished by all who knew her.
Honoring Sherry as pallbearers will be Tony Nixon, Sam Weeks, Robbie Lewis, Mike Towns, Tim Nutt, Timmy Elliot, Steve Gleason, and Gene Reeves.
