Obituary published on Legacy.com by John B. Brown Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 30, 2026.
Sherry Lynn Fairish, 62, of 401 Moore St., Huntingdon, where she has resided since 2005, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, March 26, 2026. Born November 16, 1963 in Chester, PA, she was a daughter of the late Roger Knierim, Sr. and Carol Ann (McNeal) Purdy and Donald L. Purdy. She was united in marriage to Daniel T. Fairish on July 31, 1992, in Winchester, VA. Her husband of 33 years survives at their residence.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Lacey D. Geissinger of Huntingdon, Daniel R. Fairish (Danielle Barto), of New Jersey, and Rochelle E. Flasher of Huntingdon; and nine grandchildren, Alexis Clifford of Pittsburgh, Jaydan, Jordon and Parker Knode, all of Huntingdon, Lydia Barto, Cora and Jackson Fairish, all of New Jersey, and Keyan and Addalynn Flasher, both of Huntingdon. She is also survived by the following siblings, Kimberly Knierim, Lisa Gantt, Kandie Prough and husband, Pernell, all of Huntingdon, Roger Knierim (Bonnie Knable), of Newton Hamilton, Chris Ward and wife, Annie, of California, and Ginger Rutledge of Georgia; as well as, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Heidi Jo Geissinger on August 20, 1980.

Sherry attended Huntingdon Area High School and was of the Christian Faith.

During her employment career, she previously worked as a bartender at the Standing Stone Post #1754 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Frank P. Hommon Post #24 American Legion, and the Friendly Tavern, all of Huntingdon. She also worked for a period of time as a cook at Juniata College.

She was a member of the Frank P. Hommon Post #24, American Legion.

Sherry will be remembered as a fantastic cook who won numerous awards at the Huntingdon County Fair and the Pride Telethon for her prized chicken wings. She also had a passion for arts and crafts, including making floral arrangements, bows, and her own decorations. She loved collecting rooster décor, caring for her plants, and also enjoyed camping and floating in her earlier years. She was particularly fond of her best friend, Chloe, and above all, cherished spending time with her family.

A celebration of Sherry's life will be held from 12:00 until 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the Frank P. Hommon Post #24, American Legion, 412 Washington St., Huntingdon. Private interment will be in the Mountainview Cemetery, Mill Creek.
