Sherry Ann Gosnell, 74, of Dameron, West Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 17, 2025.
Born on April 1, 1951, Sherry lived a life marked by kindness, quiet strength, and deep devotion to her family and her faith. She was a 1969 graduate of Rocky River High School in Lakewood, Ohio, and a graduate of Southern West Virginia Community College. Sherry attended Daystar Worship Center of Mount Hope, WV. More than anything, Sherry loved the Lord, and she was never afraid to share that love with others. She witnessed her faith boldly and lovingly throughout her life. Her unwavering trust in God was the foundation of how she lived, served, and loved.
Sherry and her husband spent many years volunteering together in conjunction with Dove Broadcasting through Appalachian Christmas Projects, a cause that was close to their hearts. Sherry and Mike also spent many years teaching hunter education courses all over West Virginia. She was inducted into the Hunter Education Hall of Fame in 2018. She was an ordained minister, faithfully serving and sharing the message of God’s love in every way she could.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Harold “Mike” Gosnell, who remained by her side with love and devotion through every season of life. She is also survived by her children, Shannon (Tim) Vaughn of Beckley, WV, Michael (Cortney) Gosnell, and Jeremy (April) Gosnell, both of Fairdale, WV; grandchildren, Tyler (Erin), Michael, Kyle, and Kneeli Gosnell; and a brother, Randy (JoAnn) Pettry of Dameron, WV. Sherry was also blessed with several other grandchildren; Aaron (Summer) Vaughn, Tiffani (Zeb) Dixon, Brittany & Kaylee Underwood. Great Grandchildren; Jase & Evalyn Vaughn, Bella Treadway & Kaden Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vinson and Zettie Pettry; her brother, Vinson Samuel; and her grandparents, Azel and Margie Fleshman.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose gentle spirit left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
A service to honor and celebrate Sherry’s life will be held at Calfee Funeral Home in Beckley, West Virginia at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. Burial will follow at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Dunbar, WV. Friends and family are welcome to attend and pay their respects on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 6-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews online at IFCJ.org.
