Sherry Haymond
1940 - 2025
- In Loving Memory of Sherry Moesser Haymond
Our beloved mother, Sherry Moesser Haymond, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 23, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Lewy body dementia (LBD). Her earthly trials have come to an end, and she is now free from pain and suffering.
Sherry was born on December 19, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was raised in Hunter, Utah, by her loving parents, Kenneth and Betty Moesser. She was a devoted older sister to Jeanine and Bryan, always looking out for them with care and affection.
She attended Cyprus High School and later studied at Snow College. In 1968, she married the love of her life, John Orton Haymond, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together, they built a life in Murray, Utah, where they raised their two sons, Christopher and Michael. Murray remained their cherished home until John's passing, after which Sherry eventually required care beyond what she could provide for herself.
Professionally, Sherry was a dedicated executive assistant, known for her exceptional typing skills and invaluable contributions to her employers. She spent most of her career at BTS Bosch, where she was not only a mentor and leader to her colleagues but also a respected figure among her superiors.
Sherry was deeply involved in her church, serving in various roles including Primary, Young Women's, and Relief Society. A gifted pianist, she played regularly at church and shared many musical moments with her father-in-law, Jack Haymond, during family gatherings.
Her generosity, warmth, and unwavering willingness to help others were hallmarks of her character. She lived by the principle of "give unto others," always offering her time, love, and support to those around her.
Sherry had a passion for cooking, traveling, and-perhaps most of all-shopping. She and John enjoyed many adventures together, traveling the world after years of supporting their sons in youth hockey across the country. Holidays at their home were filled with joy, laughter, and the presence of extended family, with driveways and streets lined with cars. She also shared a warm and lasting bond with many of her neighbors-it felt like someone was always stopping by.
She adored her grandchildren and took every opportunity to spoil them with love, hugs, and kisses. They were her pride and joy, and she was endlessly proud of each of them.
There truly was no one kinder, more loving, or more generous than our Mom. While our hearts ache with her absence, we find comfort in knowing her suffering has ended.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Betty (Shaw) Moesser; her siblings, Jeanine Wyatt and Bryan Moesser; her in-laws, Jack and Ilene Haymond; her brother- and sister-in-law, Ronald and Miriam Kay Haymond; her nephew, Douglas Haymond; and her devoted husband, John Orton Haymond, who always ensured his family had everything they needed and more.
She is survived by her sons, Christopher and Michael; Michael's wife, Carey, and their children: Zac, Kaden, Dominic, Anthony, and Nicole. She is also survived by her nieces, Shellie and Jessica; her nephew, Shay, his wife Mickelle, and their children, Drew and Jake; and her brother-in-law, Joseph Wyatt.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate and devoted staff at Stonehenge of American Fork, whose loving care sustained our mom through her final years. A very special thank you to our cousin Jessica for her unwavering dedication to Mom and our family over so many years. Words cannot fully express the depth of our gratitude for all she has done. She carried so much with grace, compassion, and kindness.
Rest now, Mom. May your reunion with loved ones bring you peace and joy. We love you deeply and will miss you always.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 31st, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah. A graveside service will follow the Celebration of Life at Murray City Cemetery, 5490 S. Vine Street, Murray, Utah.
