Sherry Ray Ranney, a loving and devoted individual, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025, surrounded by her cherished family. Born on March 25, 1963, in Atlantic, Iowa, Sherry made a profound impact on the lives of many during her lifetime.

After being raised in Iowa and California, Sherry obtained her GED and completed certifications for her time working as a tax preparer where she developed a love for numbers, accounting, and bookkeeping. Her career was marked by service and dedication, as she spent many years working for the Iowa Department of Transportation as a drivers license clerk and in a variety of other roles to support her family. In her later years, Sherry devoted her time to providing in-home care to the elderly, a testament to her caring and loving nature.

In 1984, Sherry married Lance Most in Red Oak, Iowa, and together they were blessed with three children: Crystal, Joshua, and Stephanie. Although the couple later divorced, Sherry's unwavering love for her children remained constant throughout her life. She also embraced a special son, Ian Haas, whom she helped raise, further exemplifying her nurturing spirit.

Sherry's legacy continues through her adoring family, which includes her daughter, Crystal (Chandler) Johnson of Nevada, Iowa; her son, Joshua (Nicole) Most of Red Oak, Iowa; and her daughter, Stephanie (Jeremy) Hodapp of Corning, Iowa. She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren: Cayden and Creighton Johnson; Ellie and Gracie Most; and Adeline, Blaine, and Spencer Hodapp.

In addition to her immediate family, Sherry is survived by three brothers: Terry Ranney of Massena, Iowa; Mark Ranney of Red Oak, Iowa; and Brad Ranney of Massena, Iowa. Her sister, Chel Latus (significant other, Ron Knight) of Massena, Iowa, also survives her, along with her step-brother, Mike Hill of Cumberland, Iowa, and step-sister, LeAnn Erickson of Massena, Iowa. Sherry's long-time companion’s daughter, Jessica Shoemake of Hastings, Iowa, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also remember her fondly.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Dale Millard and Betty Lou (Piearson) Ranney; her step-mother, Mary Lou (Hardisty) Ranney; and her three brothers: Dale "Lynn" Ranney, Gary Ranney, and Phylip Ranney. She was also preceded by her mother-in-law, Gloria Most, and her long-time companion, Bruce Courtier, along with Bruce's son, Jeremy.
