Sherry Hurd Ridgeway, age 75, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 21, 2025.
Sherry Hurd Ridgeway was born October 12, 1949, in Camden, Tennessee to Kenneth Allen Dickerson and Virginia Lucille Dickerson. A resident of Okeechobee for over 50 years, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Okeechobee. She enjoyed reading mystery/romance novel series, watching movies, and crafting. She was an active member of First Baptist Church where she volunteered for youth events and she served dinner for youth group on Monday nights. She loved fellowship with her church family and sharing God's love. She worked in the Okeechobee court system for over 20 years. She loved her job at the public defender's office where she was able to minister to those in jail. She loved telling bedtime stories to her grandchildren. She loved being a grandmother with all of her heart. She said her grandchildren kept her young.
Mrs. Ridgeway was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Grant Ridgeway, of Okeechobee, Florida; her daughters, Melissa Anuez (Paco), of Okeechobee, Florida and Mandy Carter (Mike), of South Carolina; stepchildren, Mary Kathryn Ridgeway, of Lake Placid, Michael Ridgeway (Samantha), of Sebring, Florida, and Donald Ridgeway (Liz) of Lake Placid, Florida; grandchildren, Alley, Josh, Josie, Jacob, Jordyn, Dominic, Monica, Jake, Taylor, Shelby, Brandon, Kinston, and Magnolia; great grandchildren, Ryan, Charlie Grant, Colt, Mason, Hudson, Drako, Bella, Bailey, Ava May, Gentry, Kinlee, Callan, Kenadee, Madden, Tillie, and Bentley; brother, Kenny Dickerson (Susan) of Tennessee; and sister, Phyllis Clark of Texas.
Visitation will be held 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
