Ringling - A funeral service for Sherry Lynn (King) Shivers, age 78, is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Church on the Rock, with Rev. Joe Taylor officiating. Following the service, interment will take place at Ringling Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Ringling.
Sherry was born on May 30, 1947, in Arkansas to the late Knox Quentin King and Marie Clarice (Sparks) King. She passed away at her home in Ringling on Sunday, June 22, 2025.
Sherry spent her youth traveling New Mexico and Arizona with her father's traveling ministry before settling in Oklahoma. She dedicated much of her career in education, serving as support staff in schools in Ardmore and Ringling. In her later years, Sherry worked as a caregiver in private home health in Ringling.
On May 6, 1984, she married Grey Shivers in Stratford, Oklahoma. Sherry had a passion for crocheting, bowling, and sharing humor with her family through her cherished "Nana Jokes." She was particularly fond of reading her Bible, and took great pleasure in tending to her flower beds and plants. Above all, she adored her grandchildren and treasured singing with her sister, "GiGi."
Preceding her in death were her parents, sisters Teresa "GiGi" Still and Shannon King, father-in-law, Coy Shivers; one grandchild, and one great-grandchild.
Sherry is survived by her husband, Grey Shivers; her children Tonya Smith and husband Russ, Kandis Hawkins, Greg Hawkins and wife Hope, April Hawkins, and Brandon Hawkins; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will include Greg Hawkins, Brandon Hawkins, Jake Hanus, Dylan Morales, Cole Hawkins, Riley Hawkins, and Dalton Morales. Honorary bearers will be Blake Smith, Austin Hawkins, Josh Owens, Kasey Hall, Brandon Rodgers, and Matthew Youngwirth.
