Sherry Lynn Ollis Nunley-Smith, age 53, of Whitwell, passed away surrounded by her loving family on October 12, 2025. She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Nunley; grandmother, Gladys Perkins; uncles, Bobby Perkins and Bill Jones; half-brother Jeff Nunley.
She is survived by her mother, Jennifer Nunley (special friend Johnny Caldwell); brother, Steven Brain Ollis; cousin, Kristy Perkins; uncle, Jeff Jones; half-brother, Keith Nunley; cousin, Jamie Jones; special friends, Diana Brown, Christy Claunch and Sheree Southers and a host of friends.
With blind eyes Sherry saw the world through a beautiful, giving, and loving heart. Sherry was known to everyone as "Sunshine", a name that fit her perfectly. She had a kind, caring spirit that brightened every room she entered. To her family and friends, she was a hero, an inspiration, and a best friend who always found time to help others in need.
The whole family thought of her as an angel – and rightly so. No one ever had a more compassionate heart than Sherry. She loved children deeply, and even though she could not have any of her own, she treated her friend's children as if they were hers. Her laughter was easy, her kindness constant, and her warmth never faded.
Sherry's light will continue to shine through the many lives she touched. Even though our hearts ache in her absence, we know her sunshine lives on – just shining somewhere higher.
Pallbearers: Charles Smith, Joey Guy, Jeff Jones, Tab Morrison, Richie Miolen and Johnny Caldwell.
Family will receive friends, 4PM-8PM, Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
Funeral services will be 2PM, Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Allen Griffith officiating. Burial immediately after services in the Red Hill Cemetery.
