Sherry Lynn Stanfield, lovingly known by all who knew her as "Big Momma", went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at the age of 61. She was born March 21, 1960, in Pine Bluff, to Ben D. Shelton and Carrie Mae Gatlin Gailey. She was a 1978 graduate of Watson Chapel High School, and later attended the Jefferson School of Nursing where she obtained her nursing degree.
She loved antiquing, canning, and serving others. Sherry relished spending time with her grandchildren and attending their softball games and enjoyed being Big Momma. She also enjoyed raising chickens. Sherry was also a faithful member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ben D. Shelton, and her husband, Mike Stanfield.
She will be missed by her two daughters, Kari Clark and husband, Nick, and Melissa Edwards and husband, Russell; her mother and father, Carrie and Larry Gailey; two brothers, Mitch Shelton and wife, Elizabeth, and Gene Gailey and wife, Jeanean; her loving grandchildren to whom she gave their own special names, Madison "Critter" Vines and husband, Cody, Brooklyn "Possum" Edwards, Josey Beth "Bertie" Edwards, and Raylee "Gussie" Clark; and a number of other relatives and a host of friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Rev. Mike Cottrell Bro. Mike Holcomb officiating. She will be laid to rest at Fitzhugh Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be 6:00-7:30 P.M. Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Ralph Robinson and Son.
