ALFRED-Sheryl F. "Sherry" Prime, 72, of Alfred, died peacefully in Sanford on Wednesday July 17, 2024 with her daughters by her side.
She was born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada, June 13, 1952 the daughter of Ervin and Edna (Bailey) Sharpe. She grew up in St. Stephen and graduated from St. Stephen High School. Sherry dedicated her early years to caring for her family. After her children started school, she worked as a pre-school assistant in Norway, Maine for over ten years. In 2004, she married Wayne Prime and together, they shared 16 years of marriage until his death in 2020. She was an active member of the Springvale First Baptist Church, attending weekend services and singing in the choir. She could be found volunteering for any church event.
Sherry lived at Keywood Manor where she enjoyed participating in community activities, especially BINGO and going for walks. She also enjoyed travelling to various places, especially to visit her daughters. She loved tending to her flower gardens and decorating for all the seasons. She will be remembered as a sweet, kind and thoughtful woman; a friend to all. She always had a smile on her face and was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her husband, Wayne, Sherry was predeceased by her sister, Rose Jardine and her parents.
Sherry is survived by her daughters, Sara Clingan and her husband Bob of Bel Air Maryland and Amy Fuentes and her husband Brandon of Denver Colorado; her grandchildren, Evan, Emily, Anna, and Keegan; her siblings, Marilyn Kern and her husband Bob of Florida, Gary Sharpe of St. Stephen, Lois Moffatt and her husband David of Sanford; her sister-in-law, Linda Bastarache of Sanford as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Springvale First Baptist Church on Friday July 26 at 11:00 am.
Sherry's family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Summer Commons for the loving care they gave her.
