Shirl Bethea

Shirl passed away in her home in Lexington, NC on October 25, 2025. She was born in Dillon, SC. She moved to High Point, NC in the late 70s with her family. She attended High Point Central and was a graduate of Lucy Ragsdale High School. She worked for Glass Printing at Glass Unlimited for over 25 years. She was a member of Williams Memorial CME Church for 30 years.

Shirl had a smile that could light up the room and was one of the sweetest people you could have ever met. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by mother, Lottie Bethea of Dillon, SC; father, Alvin Mearite of Dillon, SC; sisters, Margaret Legrand and Sandra Legrand; grandmother, Margaret Bethea, grandfather, Rueben Bethea and one nephew, Jauhan Bethea.

Shirl leaves to cherish her memories to: one son, Tarrance (Danielle) Bethea; one daughter; Morgan Wright (Corey Thomas); seven grandchildren, Ahmadjé, Destiny, Ceanna, A’mani, Josiah, Autumn, and Camden; one sister, Mary Bethea (Melvin) of High Point, NC; two aunts, Shirley Nicholson and Senter Bethea both of High Point, NC; one uncle, John (Ida) Bethea of High Point, NC; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
