Shirlee Keele
PRICE-Shirlee Ann Rowley Keele, age 87, passed away March 23, 2025, in Provo, Utah surrounded by her loved ones.
Shirlee was born in Price, Utah on February 22, 1938, to Robert Lee Sr. and Leah Hunt Rowley. She grew up in Spring Glen as the first of five children. She spent time with her grandparents, siblings and cousins working on the family farm. As a teenager she was a big fan of Elvis Presley.
Shirlee married Ralph Clyde Keele Sr. on June 1, 1957 and they were sealed in the Manti temple. They were married for almost 66 years when Dad passed away in 2023. They had five children. She was affectionately referred to as "Matey." She loved being a grandmother and made an effort to establish a strong relationship with each grandchild.
Mom and Dad lived in Provo, Green River, Nucla, Moab, and then moved back to Price in 1972. Mom worked as a nurse for a short time in Moab. She also enjoyed teaching organ lessons at Lee's Music in Price. But her true calling was being a wife and mother to her family.
Mom enjoyed camping, travelling with her family, working in the garden, and planting flowers. She was always ready to participate in a card game, often staying up all night at family reunions. Mom enjoyed craft projects including, sewing, quilting, painting, woodworking, and many others.
Shirlee loved her Savior and the Gospel. She dedicated a significant amount of time to performing church service, including being the Relief Society President and many other callings.
She was a great example to her kids, teaching them integrity, patience, and kindness. Mom instilled a sound work ethic by teaching us the value of hard work, a job well done, and the importance of daily chores around the house.
Shirlee is survived by her children, Raelynn (Rusty) Hunt, Ralph Jr. (Sandi) Keele, Rocky (Joye) Keele, Rusty (JennyLee) Keele, and Cinnamon Madsen; four siblings, 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Ralph Sr. She was greatly loved and will be missed by many.
Funeral service, Saturday, March 29, 2025, 1:00 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street, Price, Utah 84501) where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
