Shirley Rosan Johnson Anderson, a cherished soul and beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025. Born on August 27, 1949, she was a beacon of kindness and strength, leaving behind a legacy of love that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.
Shirley lived an honest and simple life, one deeply rooted in her love for her family and animals. A devoted mother to her sons, Martin, Cullen, and Roger, she poured her heart into nurturing her family. The warmth of her kitchen welcomed not just her loved ones but the entire neighborhood. Her culinary talents were unmatched; with the ability to make a meal out of anything, Shirley had a special way of bringing people together. Famously known for her meatloaf, roast, and cornbread, her home was often filled with laughter and the delightful aromas of her cooking.
In addition to her culinary gifts, Shirley had a gentle spirit that allowed her to connect with anyone. She was recognized not only for her kind demeanor but also for her remarkable ability to see the good in everyone. Her joy was found in the small things, such as solving puzzle books and enjoying penny poker with friends. Her sweetness was contagious, leaving a lasting impression on every person she encountered.
Shirley is survived by her loving sons, Martin, Cullen, and Roger (Kristen) Anderson, all of Candler; her sisters, Fannie, Mary, Cricket, and Angie; and her brothers, Marion, Porky, and Bobby. She took immense pride in her grandchildren: Jessica, James, Aaron, Annabeth, Alicia, and Katie, as well as her great-grandchildren, Nikki, Chloe, Ali, Kylee, Karlee, and Aubree, who were the light of her life. Additionally, she was blessed with a special bond with her cousins, Jean and Howard Fender, alongside an extended family that adored her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Martin A. Anderson, Sr.; her brother, Butch; and her sister, Alice. Their memories will forever be intertwined with her spirit, reflecting the deep love she held for them.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on August 14, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Chapel of Faith at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler.
Shirley Rosan Johnson Anderson will be dearly missed but her love, warmth, and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her beautiful legacy will forever be carried on by her family and friends, who will remember her not just for the meals she shared but for the love and joy she brought into their lives.
