Shirley Ann Barker, 80, of Akron, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Green Village Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 3, 1943, to the late George and Edith Shirley Good. She was a 1961 graduate of Suffield High School and went on to work as a secretary at NEOUCOM for 20 years.
Shirley was a kind and generous person. There was always a place to stay and eat. She was very crafty and enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She loved to read and watch movies and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, George Good Jr., Garnet Papuga, Frances Bright and Ada Good; and her former husband Frederick "Fritz" Barker.
She leaves her children, Carole Beans, Michael Barker and Shana Barker; grandchildren, Christopher Barker, Joe (Lillie) Barker, Tawney Beans and Justin Barker; and her great grandchild Geneva.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 7:00PM at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240. Visitation will be prior to the service from 5:00-7:00PM at the funeral home.
