Shirley Beckworth Obituary

Shirley Ann Beckworth, 86, entered into rest on Thursday, March 6, 2025.

She was a lifelong resident of Augusta, GA. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Shirley was an avid gardener and you could always find her in the kitchen doing what she loved, cooking and baking. She was a dedicated employee of Kroger and retired in 1998 with over 40 years of service. She enjoyed being a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and AnnieBelle McDade Williams, her first husband, Bill Elliott, her late husband, James Beckworth, her son, William "Allen" Elliott, her brother, Howard Williams, and her sisters, Edna Griffin, Marie Johns and Ruby Jones. She is survived by her two sons, Kerry Beckworth and Johnny Beckworth (Vickie Beckworth), her grandchildren, April Johnston (Michael Johnston), Nathan Beckworth, Steven O'Rourke, Katie Brown (Cody Brown), and six great-grandchildren, Ava Johnston, Micah Johnston, Peyton Beckworth, Cohen Beckworth, Sutton Beckworth and Brady Brown.

The family will be holding a private, graveside service on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 to honor the life and legacy of Shirley.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association.

My sincere condolences to the family. I worked with Shirley back in the early 60s at the first Kroger on Walton Way. She was always a very sweet person to work with. RIP Shirley
