Shirley May Bourque, 87, of Fairfax, VT, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2023.
Born on June 24, 1935 in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of the late Charles Ratto and Ada Ratto (Stone). After Shirley graduated from Milford High School in 1953, she went on to begin work in housekeeping.
Shirley met and married Roland Rogers. Shirley's memory will forever be celebrated by her children Cinthia Rogers (Rickert), Ronald Rogers and Stepson Ritchie Rogers. Shirley leaves a loving legacy of grandchildren: Christopher VanOrnum, Kari Gagnon, and Charles Gagnon, great-grandchildren Olivia Pidgeon and Connor Pidgeon, as well as great-great granddaughter Octavia Willette.
Shirley was predeceased by her children's father Roland, husband Ronald Bourque, and sister Lucy Morrow. She is survived by sisters Patricia Daniello and Nancy Dahlberg, and brother Charles (Butch) Ratto and his wife Kathy Ratto and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley enjoyed many activities in life but none greater than weekly bingo with her mother Ada. She was an avid reader of Tessa Dare and Danielle Steel. She would sit and crochet many afghans for her loved ones.
She also enjoyed playing games and dice, as well as online games (Pogo). She also took great joy in car rides cruising with her grandchildren. She made the best gravies at Thanksgiving. Shirley would always tell it how it was and will always be remembered for her strong will and caring heart.
In keeping with Shirley's wishes, there will be a celebration of her life planned at a later time. Memorials may be made in her name to the Fairfax Fire Department, 15 Goodall Street, Fairfax, Vermont 05454.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, where fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared with her family and friends at: www.bradyandlevesque.com.
