Shirley Brown Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Shirley Brown, 85, of Midwest City, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She was born September 5, 1939, in Beebe, Arkansas, to Otis and Alberta Plummer.

Shirley grew up in Beebe and, on September 7, 1957, married the love of her life, Richard C. Brown. Together, they built a life full of love, service, and family. Their journey took them from Arkansas to Hawaii and Texas while Richard proudly served in the U.S. Army, before they eventually made Oklahoma their permanent home.

Shirley's greatest joy in life was being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. While raising her children was always her most cherished role, she also worked as an administrative assistant in several positions to help support her family. She loved butterflies and flowers, finding beauty in the simple things of nature. Most of all, she cherished family traditions, especially preparing birthday dinners that brought everyone together around her table.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard C. Brown; infant daughter, Angela Denise; and grandson, Justin Kyle McIver.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Lisa Brown of Shawnee, OK; son Ronnie and his wife, Shannon Brown of Midwest City, OK; grandchildren Jarron & Racheal McIver, Chad McIver, Kellie & Steven Dutcher, Chelsea & Bryce Rusler, and Katie & Jordan Mannis; and great-grandchildren Jayce, Kyle & Zoe, Trinity & Camdan McIver, Macie Fortin, Raylee & Blaze Dutcher, Elijah, Josephine & Wyatt Mannis, and Raushad, Amuara, Anyia, Charlie, Beau & Wylie Rusler. She is also survived by her brother, Billy, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who loved her dearly.

Graveside services to honor Shirley's life will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Arlington Memory Gardens in Midwest City, Oklahoma.

Shirley will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her generous spirit, her flowers, butterflies, sugar cookies, the countless dinners around her table and memories she leaves behind.
