Shirley Lynn Carpenter, 78, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, at 9:25 a.m. She was born on February 9, 1947, to Charles Thomas Youts and Wanda Williams Youts in Dimmitt, Texas.

Shirley retired from the State of Texas, where she worked as a Child Support Officer. She was admired for her dedication, compassion, and determination - qualities that carried her through life and inspired everyone around her.

She married the love of her life, Travis Leon Carpenter, in July 1967. Together they shared decades filled with family, laughter, and cherished memories.

Shirley is survived by her son Kendall Schacher and his wife Diane Schacher of Colby, Kansas; her grandson Adam Schacher and granddaughter Katelyn Schacher. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Travis Carpenter, her siblings Charlette Sanders, Lawanda Quintero, and Charles Youts, Jr.

Shirley spent her final years surrounded by family who lovingly cared for her. She will be remembered for her perseverance, her love for her family, and her unshakable faith.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

"She stood in the storm,
and when the wind did not blow her way,
she adjusted her sails."
- Elizabeth Edwards

What is a memaw you ask?

It's someone who loves like it's an easy task.

A woman who lights the morning sky, and one who never lies

A memaw takes someone special and forms into a life's essential.

That memaw is, was, and always will be you.

That thought alone leaves noone blue.

We celebrate you today for all you stood for, the now and the before.

So fly high and proud Memaw

For today is your day, as we all know your love is here to stay.

-Katelyn Schacher (granddaughter)
