Our beloved Shirley Ruth (Dawson) Casto, age 94, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 6, 2024.
Shirley was born December 25, 1929, in Trenton, Michigan and preceded in death by Floyd and Leathel Dawson (parents), Wesley Dawson (brother), Mark Casto (son), Erin Sturgill (granddaughter), and Emily Sturgill (great-granddaughter).
After raising five children, Shirley entered the workforce and held various positions at Standard Foods, a local dental office, library, and later retired from IBM. In her early years, she enjoyed bowling and sang in the church choir more than five decades. She also enjoyed reading, journaling, weekly zoom calls with family, sending cards, and was a volunteer for 23 years at the Charleston Area Medical Center in Teays Valley.
Shirley's legacy of selfless love and kindness are cherished by her greatest joys, her children, Bruce (Kathy) Casto, Brian Casto, Ken (Linda) Casto, and Cathy Chaney (Dennis). She will be forever missed by her sister, Barbara Lou; grandchildren Alex (her best friend), Ashley, Ashlyn, Caylie, Hillary, Jennifer, Kenton, Laura, Nathanael, Nikolaus, and Sara; great-grandchildren Audrey, Aurora, Cooper, Gabe, Hannah, Isla, Micah, Salem, and Theo.
