Shirley Davis Chewning

Shirley Davis Thompson Chewning, age 80 of Sugar Hill, GA, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Thompson; second husband, Calvin Chewning; parents Robert and Betty Haynie Davis; sister, Donna Davis Shadburn; nephew, Adrian Shadburn.

Mrs. Chewning is survived by her daughter, Rhonda (Dee) Rylee of Maysville, GA; her son, Rodney (Melissa) Thompson of Cornelia, GA; grandchildren; Leia (Hunter) Payne, Grant Rylee, Misty (Chris) Zetrouer, Brooke (Cody) Tatum, Logan Thompson; Seven great-grandchildren; sister, Debra Davis Weeles of Buford, GA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; step-children, Wayne (Kim) Chewning of Gainesville, GA, Vickie Pruitt of Gainesville, GA, Jody (Scott) Patterson of Pendergrass, GA, Beth Chewning of Doraville, GA; Seven step-grandchildren; Fifteen step-greatgrandchildren.

Mrs. Chewning was born July 16, 1945 in Buford, GA. She received her education at North Gwinnett High School. Mrs. Chewning retired from Makita Tool Co. after 15+ years of service. She was a member of Gillsville Baptist Church.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, GA, with Rev. Shannon Rhodes of Gillsville Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Level Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery, Suwanee, GA. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
