Shirley A. Coe, 65, of Worcester, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025, in Worcester, surrounded by loved ones.

Shirley is survived by her loving children, Jaylee Momplaisir and Ja’Quaine Coe; her adored grandchildren, Kahlil Coe, and her two pretties, Amaya and Marsae Momplaisir; her cherished siblings Patricia Alford, Lorraine Grier, Andrew Coe Jr., Doris Gibbs, Crystal Page and Andrea Edwards; Her best friends Karen Watkins and Nichole Jamieson (The Breakfast Club) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends who felt like family.

Born in Trenton, New Jersey on August 25, 1959, Shirley was the daughter of the late Andrew and Joan (Pack) Coe. She spent her life loving boldly, dancing often, and caring deeply. Whether she was laughing with her grandbabies, catching up with friends over the phone, or offering a fierce word of encouragement, Shirley made you feel like you mattered. She had the kind of presence that lit up a room—and the kind of strength that carried people through their darkest days.

Shirley believed in joy, in truth, and in showing up for the people she loved. She gave her heart generously—whether it was offering a warm meal to a stray cat or striking up a meaningful conversation with a stranger who needed it. She knew how to make people (and animals) feel seen. Her legacy is one of honesty, humor, and unapologetic realness.

A Calling Hour will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 10:30am until her Memorial Service begins at 11:30am in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions or flower arrangements may be sent in Shirley’s memory to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606 a cause close to her heart.
