Shirley Jean Black Coyle, age 86, was born July 4, 1937, in Rowan County, KY and passed away November 23, 2023, at CHI Saint Joseph Hospital in Mt. Sterling, KY after a lengthy illness.
Shirley was the daughter of the late Milza Black and Geneva Sturgill Black. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Callis H. Coyle Jr.; two brothers, Ronnie Black and James W. Black; and three sisters, Linda Sue Black, Anna Merideth and Jo Douglas.
Shirley is survived by one son, Callis H. Coyle III, and one daughter, Robin (Gary) Senters both of Morehead, KY; 7 grandchildren, Amanda (Darrell) Romans of Salt Lick, KY, Calli (Eugene) Hamilton of Flemingsburg KY, Samantha (Blake) Pettit, Kyle Coyle, Tiffany Coyle, Desarae (Darrell) Logan, and Dalton Davis, all of Morehead, KY; 10 great grandchildren, Jackson Romans, Zakk Romans, Ella Ruth Ann Pettit, Nash Tolliver Pettit, Ava Grace Pettit, Colt Coyle, Mason Cole Adkins, Bentley Clay Logan, Oakleigh Rayne Logan, and Karter Stephens; and a great-great granddaughter, Harmony Romans.
Shirley is also survived by four sisters, Kitty Cross of Niles OH, Debbie Cundiff and Carol Brown, both of Soldier, KY, and Teresa Conn of Olive Hill, KY and one brother, Charles Black of Soldier, KY, along with numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
Shirley and her husband Callis traveled extensively with his work. Shirley and their children went with him always and even joined Mr. Coyle in England. The beautiful places Shirley has been to and seen most people could only have dreamed of! Shirley had a wonderful life! She loved traveling and enjoyed gardening, flowers, and shopping!
Shirley was a great cook and she would always say that Nanny her mother-in-law, Esther Hayes Coyle, taught her to cook. She would go on to say she cooked more like Nanny than her mother Geneva Black. Shirley made the best sweet tea and anyone that drank it loved it and would even come and ask her to please make them some!!
Shirley adored her children. She kept them both "dressed to the nines" from head to toe!! She always kept them in activities at school. There weren't too many things that she didn't allow her children to participate in! As they grew up, Shirley was always so supportive of things they would do! She was so proud of her children! Shirley loved them with all of her heart! Shirley cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren! She loved them so. She will be greatly missed and always remembered with love!
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeff Fannin officiating.
Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
