Shirley Albrecht Douroux, born on February 3, 1940, departed this life on November 1, 2025, in Harvey, Louisiana. She was a beloved member of the community, known for her kind-heartedness and her unwavering willingness to help those in need.
Shirley had a fulfilling career in sales, where she served both Dillard's and DiMartino's, leaving a lasting impression on her colleagues and customers alike. Her professional endeavors were complemented by a deep commitment to her hobbies and interests; she found joy in sewing, thrift shopping, and creating unique lamps, evidencing her creative spirit and resourcefulness.
A dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Shirley also held the role of Chapter Mom for the Order of DeMolay, reflecting her passion for service and mentorship within the community. Among her proudest accomplishments was her generosity in repairing furniture, which she selflessly gave to those who were in need, embodying her commitment to helping others.
Shirley will be deeply missed by her family, including her sons, Paul Douroux, Jr. (Karin), Armand Douroux, and Charles Douroux (Christy). She was a beloved grandmother to her grandchildren, Austin Douroux (Sarah), Lauren Douroux (Aleigh), Mason Douroux, and Noah Douroux, and took great joy in being a great-grandmother to Thorn Douroux, Rose Douroux, and Mira Douroux. Her sister, Emily Richards, along with numerous nieces and nephews, also survive her.
She is predeceased by her husband, Paul Armand Douroux, Sr., her daughter, Denise Douroux, and her parents, Marcus M. Albrecht, Sr. and Emelda Hartman Albrecht. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her siblings: June Relle, Anthony Albrecht, Marcus M. Albrecht, Jr., Michael Albrecht, Mary Weidenbacher, Joy Waite, Johnny Albrecht, Audrey Albrecht, Alvin Albrecht, and Peter Albrecht.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation scheduled for November 7, 2025, from 10:30 AM until 1:30 PM at Marrero - Mothe Funeral Homes, LLC, located at 7040 Lapalco Blvd, Marrero, LA 70072. A Mass will follow at the same location, beginning at 1:30 PM, after which she will be interred at Hope Mausoleum, 4841 Canal St, New Orleans, LA 70119 at 2:30 PM.
Shirley Albrecht Douroux's warmth, compassion, and selflessness have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her legacy of kindness and community service will continue to inspire future generations.
