Shirley Duggan, a beloved member of her community, passed away on September 22, 2024 in South Boston, Massachusetts. Born in Philadelphia, PA, on July 12, 1935, Shirley's remarkable journey through life was characterized by her unwavering commitment to helping others and her infectious smile that could light up even the darkest  of  days.

Throughout her distinguished career, Shirley played vital roles in shaping the lives of many. As a former Legislative Aide at the Massachusetts State House, she was dedicated to public service, tirelessly advocating for the needs of her constituents and working closely with lawmakers to drive meaningful change. Her passion for education followed her into her role as a retired public school teacher, where her influence reached the hearts and minds of countless students in Everett and Lawrence.

Known fondly as the unofficial ‘Mayor’ of Hst and East Broadway, Shirley was much more than a community member; she was a pillar of support for all who knew her. Always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear, she built lasting relationships that enriched her life and the lives of those around her. Shirley’s warmth and kindness were evident in everything she did—whether it was organizing local events, volunteering her time, or simply sharing a smile with a neighbor.

Shirley's legacy will forever be cherished by her loving family, including her daughter Beverly McGuire and son Timothy Duggan, who carry her spirit in their hearts. Her memory will also be honored by Grandchildren  Edward M. McGuire III, Max Mcguire, Timmy, Blanche, Elyse, and Anna Duggan. Sister of Ronald Demirjian of TX.  and by all those whose lives she touched throughout her remarkable journey. Beloved Wife of the late Joseph R. Duggan Sr. Mother in law of the late Edward M. McGuire Jr. Sister of the late Edward Demirjian. Mother of the late Joseph R Duggan Jr.

As we celebrate the life of Shirley Duggan, we remember not only her remarkable accomplishments and steadfast dedication but also the joyful moments of laughter, love, and kindness she shared with all. She leaves behind a profound impact on her community, and while she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the memories of those who loved her. Rest in peace, dear Shirley, and know that your legacy of love and service will endure in the hearts of many. A memorial service to be announced.
