Shirley Eberly Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Auble Funeral Home - Orrville on Aug. 17, 2023.
Shirley Louise Eberly, age 89, of North Lawrence, died on August 16, 2023, at the home of her son Eric, in Circleville, surrounded by immediate family. She had endured a courageous battle with brain cancer for the last nine months.
She was born in North Lawrence, on July 24, 1934 to the late Chester and Hilda (Reid) Vernon and graduated from Orrville High School in 1952. She married Edwin H. Eberly in 1955 and they built their family home in North Lawrence, where Shirley lived for the last 55 years. Ed died in 1995.
She is survived by her son, Eric (Ange) Eberly of Circleville; grandson, Quinn of Circleville; granddaughter, Brielle of Worthington; sister, Bonnie Stoll of Marshallville; and several nephews, cousins, and all of their families.
In addition to her husband, Ed, and her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, William and Kim; and sister, Nancy Horst.
Shirley worked as a teller for the Orrville Savings Bank, and then was employed by Buehler's Fresh Foods for 40 years. She was a life-long and active member of Chapel of the Cross Global Methodist Church.
Shirley delighted in her family and wide circle of friends, and hosted many joyful gatherings in her home. She was known for her cut-out sugar cookies, buckeyes, ho-ho cake, and 7-layer Jello. She enjoyed travel, having vacationed and camped in many national parks with her family, but her favorite spot was sitting on the porch of the Metivier Inn on Mackinac Island.
Shirley did not know a stranger, had a gift to gab, a fun sense of humor, and was truly an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
Friends may call on August 26, 2023, from 11:00 am to 1:45 pm, at Chapel of the Cross, 14411 Orrville St NW, North Lawrence, OH 44666.
Services will follow at 2:00 pm on the 26th at the church, with Pastors Phil Hoverstock and Brian Amstutz officiating. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
Memorials can be made to Chapel of the Cross Global Methodist Church (address above) or Mt. Carmel Hospice, 777 W State Street, Columbus, Ohio 43222.
