Shirley Patricia Fahey (Large), went to Heaven on Saturday, September 7, 2024. Shirley, also known as Mom, Grandma, GG and Aunt Pat was born on November 4, 1935 to Luther Jackson Large and Mary Loraine Wilson in Adam City, Colorado. She was the youngest of six children.

Shirley married Dave on May 29, 1963. With her came three daughters, Kathy (Pete), Karen (Alan) and Patty. Dave brought a son, David (Diane) and a daughter Roxanna. Dan (Cindy) was born a year later. These six children brought a total of 16 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 5 great- great grandchildren to Shirley’s family. Shirley’s days and nights were filled with her grandchildren. If there was an event that the kids were doing, then Shirley was going to be there.

Shirley was active in the community as well. She volunteered at the Strasburg Museum, the Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, and the Community Church. Nothing was better than a good day of playing games with her friends – bunco, bridge, marble game nights. She bowled on a league for 10 years with a high game of 232. She was active with the local Red Hats and attended numerous events with a group of wonderful ladies. She could make a tasty breakfast burrito that were sold by the Strasburg Seniors Comanche VIP Assoc. at hometown days.

Words of wisdom Shirley wrote to her grandchildren, “Be honest, dependable and have fun”

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her husband Dave, her daughters Kathy and Patty, grandson Nicholas and granddaughter Megan.

A memorial service to celebrate Shirley’s vibrant life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Strasburg Community Church, 56155 Sunset Ave, Strasburg, Colorado.

Shirley’s compassion, steadfast stubbornness and ability to brighten any room she entered will be remembered by all who knew her.
