Shirley Mae Biggs Farrell

March 1, 1943 - December 19, 2024

Beloved mother & educator Shirley Mae Biggs Farrell entered into eternal rest on December 19, 2024. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband of 20 years, Dennis Seibert who passed away on January 8, 2024. Shirley is survived by her devoted daughter Lauren Anne Farrell, first husband Michael Farrell & 3 generations of nieces and nephews on the Pugh side and 2 nieces & their children & grandchildren on the Shipp side of the family. She was also preceded in death by parents Howard Hairston Biggs & Bertha Morgan Pugh Biggs, sister Joe Ann Pugh Shipp, Elmo Shipp & nephew Joseph Shipp, beloved niece Melinda Pugh, brother Walter Stone Pugh (cherished wife of 72 years Mary Carolyn Mcmurtray Pugh misses him).

Shirley was born in Mobile, Alabama & grew up on a farm in the beautiful Mississippi Delta in Belzoni. After she received her BA in Education from The University of Southern Mississippi, she then took her graceful, southern lady demeanor to New Orleans in 1965 where she later became a teacher at Edna Karr Junior High School for 22 years. Her gentle but no-nonsense southern charm earned her enormous respect with her students and colleagues. Her love of teaching Speech, English & Drama was second to none. She especially loved being the Director for school plays.

Shirley also loved Elvis Presley, taking special care of her many plants & watching old black & white movies. Shirley & Lauren's mutual love of sailing became a treasured pastime throughout their lives. They created special memories Lauren will cherish until they meet again.
