Shirley Follmer Obituary

Shirley grew up in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, with her younger sister, Lois McKendre Follmar. She graduated from Johnstown High School in 1947. She and her husband, Richard 'Dick' Follmar were married November 4, 1949, in Maryland. They moved from Johnstown to West Chester, PA, and the next year their first of five children was born. They lived in West Chester until 1969 when the family relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In 1978 they moved again to Tallahassee, Florida where they lived out their lives surrounded by family.
Shirley enjoyed travel, gardening, especially tending to her roses and other flowers in her garden, she was employed and enjoyed her work for many years at the chemistry department at Florida State University. Her greatest joy was time with her family. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Westminster Presbyterian Church in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
Shirley is survived by her five children, Debra Lee Goodman (Richard), Ronald David Follmar (Margie), Beverly Ann Follmar Remien (Willard), and Christine Follmar Carmody (Ian); her grandchildren, Bryan, Travis, Rebecca, Sam, Grace, and Caroline; 5 great-grandchildren; and other family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at Abbey Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at 1:30 PM.

Since I am the son with wife (Richard Keith Follmar and Marsha Elise Follmar) who doesn't warrant a listing on this obituary as a sibling, I wish to convey my never ending love and respect for the women who raised me and put up with me, Shirley Follmar. I also wish to convey my love for my brother, Ron and my beautiful sisters, Debby, Beverly and Chrissy. Mom, we will rejoice together in heaven, to infinity and beyond, your son, Keith.
