Shirley Ann Gehring

Shirley A. (nee Stoffel) Gehring, age 87, passed away Monday, February 19th, 2024. She entered eternal life surrounded by her family at her home. She joined her husband (Gordon) in eternal life on the twelfth anniversary of his passing. Shirley was born on Augst 31st, 1936 to the late Arthur and Natalia Stoffel. Shirley enjoyed her childhood at the family farm along with her four siblings. She was the treasured sister of the late Arlene (Joe) Strupp and brother to the late Gerald Stoffel. Surviving siblings are sister Gladys (Frank) Scharrer and brother James (Patricia) Stoffel.
Upon graduation from West Bend High School, she was united in marriage to the love of her life Gordon Gehring on April 21st, 1956 at St Lawrence Catholic Church, St Lawrence WI. Together they started planting their long-lasting roots and raising their family of seven sons: Randy (Diane) Gehring, Robert (Leslie) Gehring, Arthur Gehring, Kevin (Mary Lee) Gehring, Keith (Mary) Gehring, Mark (Karen) Gehring, Todd (Renee) Gehring.
Throughout the years, Shirley enjoyed taking care of the neighborhood children alongside her own seven sons. She often commented, "Heck, what's one more!". She also volunteered for many school & parish functions, countless scouting activities, loved to garden, and thoroughly enjoyed her sheepshead card clubs and polka dancing with friends and her dear love Gordon. She was blessed to have loving and caring neighbors during her 67 years in their home. Shirley is survived by twenty-seven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:30 pm Friday, March 1st at upper church Holy Hill- Basilica National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians, 1525 Carmel Rd, Hubertus WI with the Rev. Jude Peters OCD & Deacon Daniel Weber presiding. Visitation will be held prior on Thursday, February 29th, 2024 5pm-8pm and Friday, March 1st, 2024 11:00am -11:45am at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, 226 S Main Street, Hartford WI.
