Shirley Hamerman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 4, 2025.

Shirley Frances Hamerman (née Reposh), 90, of Cicero, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025.

Born on February 28, 1935, to Frank and Cynthia Reposh, Shirley spent nearly her entire life in Cicero, where she lived for 86 years. She graduated from Morton High School and began her career with Illinois Bell Telephone Company before marrying the love of her life, Terry Hamerman. The couple was married nearly 70 years, maintaining a partnership marked by devotion, faith, and family.

After their marriage, Shirley and Terry lived in Alabama and Fort Huachuca, Arizona, during Terry's Army service, before returning to Cicero in 1956 to raise their family. Together they raised three children-Dorene Rubin, Nathan Hamerman, and Jeffrey Hamerman-who also grew up in Cicero.

A woman of faith, Shirley dedicated much of her life to serving her church and community. She volunteered in several congregations over the years, most recently at Forest Park Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school, led a youth group, and organized a monthly senior fellowship. Her warmth, energy, and commitment touched generations of families.

Shirley will be remembered for her deep love of family, her steadfast faith, and her generous spirit. She leaves behind her husband, Terry, their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.

Graveside services will be held at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Stickney, Illinois.
