Born on October 24, 1937, in Peculiar, MO, to Murrel Clyde and Dorothy K. (Morris) Taylor, Joann was a lifelong resident of Cass County. She graduated from Peculiar High School. In 1966, she married the love of her life, Charles Hammonds, with whom she shared countless cherished memories. They raised one son, Lane, on their farm near Freeman, MO.
For 35 years, Joann served as the bookkeeper at Harrisonville Medical Clinic for Dr. Wheeler and Dr. Price. Following her retirement, she transitioned to a role she loved even more-as a full-time grandmother. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, Charles "Charley" and Sabrina Hammonds, and her great-granddaughter, Isabella.
Joann was a devoted member of Harrisonville United Methodist Church, where she actively participated in church activities and volunteered her time to support the Food Pantry.
Joann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; her son, Stephen; her sister, Merle Dean; and her brother, Jerry. She is survived by her son, Lane (Ann) Hammonds, of Harrisonville, MO; her grandchildren: Charles (Kairah) Hammonds and Sabrina Hammonds; one great-grandchild, Isabella, and one on the way; who will miss her dearly.
