Shirley Herson Obituary

Born on March 11, 1936, to Edward and Francis Erickson, of Olean N.Y. Shirley was predeceased by her parents, and her loving brother, Richard Erickson, her 1st born son, Michael P. Herson, and the love of her life, her husband of 65 years, James M. Herson Sr.
This beautiful lady passed away on January 30, 2023 at the age of 86. She was a loving mother to 5 children, 4 of which survive her. James M. Herson Jr. of Elkton, Florida, Kelly Veit, of Dryden, NY, Lisa Herson Snyder of Ithaca, NY and David E. Herson of Ithaca, NY, as well as her best friend, Joan Coskey, of Ithaca, NY.
Shirley, also known as, Mom, Maudie, Shirl girl, Grama, friend, was the most loving soul to everyone she knew, Her love for animals was deep, and her family was of most importance her entire life. This gem of a woman will be greatly missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her.
She spent her younger years working for the New York Telephone Company, where she made life long friendships the she truly treasured. She also worked at JC Penny at the Pyramid Mall in Ithaca. She loved to spend her earnings on fine Jewelry that she would gift to her loved ones. She spent many years working at the Danby store, where she loved meeting all of the people in her community. She took special care to everyone!
A celebration of our mother's life will be held at Herson Wagner Funeral Home, at 110 S. Geneva Street, Ithaca, NY 14850, on Wednesday, February 8. We will greet guests at 10 am, and a service to be held at 11 am.

A genuinely caring woman, Shirley was a friend to my late mother, Betty Kelts, and showed me every conceivable kindness. Deepest condolences to all her loved ones, and may she Rest In Peace..
