Shirley Ann Hieatt passed away on October 31, 2024, at IU Health after a brief illness. She was born on March 4, 1934, in Boswell, Indiana to Walter and Pollie Eberly.
On March 7, 1954, Shirley married the love of her life Richard, and they would go on to spend 70 years together before his death in June of 2024. From this union they have two children, daughter Jennifer Hewitt and son Michael Hieatt (Tracy).
Shirley spent her working career as a bookkeeper at several places of employment, finishing out this career at Arnett Clinic in 1997.
Shirley spent every summer at their place at Stevenson's Point on Lake Shafer for 50+ years. Making many great memories and friendships over those years. After retirement her and Richard became Florida snowbirds. She loved being in the Florida warmth and enjoyed her retirement to the fullest.
Shirley was always part of monthly euchre and bunco clubs. We always had to make sure the house was clean and shiny when it was her time to host. Along with these clubs she just enjoyed getting together with friends and playing any kind of card games.
Shirley was an avid Purdue sports fan, especially the men's basketball team. She loved watching them play on TV and rarely missed a game.
Along with her children, Shirley is survived by her brother Bill Eberly and five grandchildren: Dustin (Emily) Hieatt, Andrew (Corrie) Hieatt, Tanner (Kristen) Hieatt, Nick (Michelle) Hewitt, Nathan (Bobbi) Hewitt. Four great-grandchildren: Jaden Hewitt, Lilly Hieatt, Porter Hieatt, Magnolia Brattain.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard and Son-in-law Steve Hewitt
We will miss our loving, caring stubborn, organized special lady dearly, but Richard was needing his ride or die so it was time for her to join him as sad as it makes us feel. So, take your sassy little self and enjoy that eternal sunshine.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of service at Noon, Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, IN 47909. Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens 1718 W. 350 N. West Lafayette, IN 47906.
