Shirley A Holick

Shirley A (Friend) Holick, age 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 2, 2026. Born on March 7, 1945, in Hazelton West Virginia, Shirley lived a life rooted in family, strength, and quiet grace. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister whose presence brought comfort, wisdom, and unconditional love to those who knew her. To her family, she was the heart that held everyone together. 

She found joy in the simple moments- spending time with her family, gardening, enjoying the peace of her quiet back yard and cuddling in her chair with her beloved pets. Her laugh, her stories, and her gentle touch will be forever cherished. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Holick; her parents, Charles O.R. Friend and Wanda M. (nee Evans) Friend; her son-in-law, Donald Shue; and her sister-in-law Sally Friend. Shirley is survived by her siblings, Vernon Friend, Sylvia (Ken) Johnson, and Kathy (Robert) Henderson; daughters Tammy (John) Miller; Rhonda Shue and Sue (Doug) Bade; her best friend Alice (Dan) Steele; her grandchildren, Kyle Lloyd, Megan (Russ) Alexander, Stefanie Miller, Diane (Martin) Willis, Katie (Guy) Nolan, and Patricia (Ray) Zarle. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and cherished memories that will be carried on for generations. Her kindness and gentle spirit will never be forgotten.

A Memorial Service will be held 12 Noon Friday, January 9, 2026 at the Schlup-Pucak & Wilson Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd, Akron with Pastor Ben Adams officiating. Burial with military honors will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, Ohio 44273. Friends may call one hour prior to service time.
